General Rental Information

QWhat documents do I need to provide to rent a car as a PDVL driver?

A: You must provide your Driving Licence, PDVL Licence, NRIC, and complete the Hirer Particulars section in the agreement.

QWhat is the initial deposit required, and is it refundable?

A: A deposit of S$1,000 (12-month rental) or S$2,000 (24-month rental) is required. It is refundable (without interest) 7 working days after the vehicle is returned, provided all conditions are met.

QHow and when do I pay the rental fees?

A: The first week's rental is due at agreement signing. Subsequent payments are due every Monday, by 11.59 PM(SGT).

QWhat happens if I make a late rental payment?

A: A late payment fee of S$60 per day will be charged for each overdue payment.

QCan I use the rental car for purposes other than private hire?

A: Yes, the car may also be used for personal purposes. However, unauthorized uses, such as towing, driving lessons, racing, or any illegal activities—are strictly prohibited.

QHow do I go about booking a rental car?

A: You can book a rental car through any of the following methods:

QWhat are the requirements needed to rent a car?

A: Drivers must be at least 30 years old, hold a valid driving licence with at least 2 years of experience, and comply with LTA and insurance regulations.

Vehicle Use and Travel

QAm I allowed to drive the rental car into Malaysia?

A: Yes, if with prior notice to the Owner. CDW is not applicable.

QWhat types of insurance coverage are provided?

A: The coverage includes third-party liability, property damage, and vehicle damage—including windscreen coverage. In the event of a windscreen claim, you will be responsible for an excess charge of S$100 for any repairs or replacement.

QWhat is Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and what does it cover?

A: CDW reduces excess payment in accidents but excludes vandalism, theft, natural disasters, and civil disturbances.

Maintenance and Emergencies

QWhat are my responsibilities in maintaining the vehicle?

A: You are responsible for using the correct fuel, reporting any accidents promptly, and ensuring the vehicle is serviced at 5,000 km for the first service, then at 15,000 km, and every 15,000 km thereafter.

QWhat happens if the car breaks down?

A: For 24-hour towing service, call 6848 1088. For roadside assistance, call 9011 7711. Charges may apply for issues like tyre punctures or locked-in keys.

Q Will I get a replacement vehicle if the rental car is unavailable?

A: A replacement may be provided but is not guaranteed to be the same model. The Owner may decline under certain conditions.

Damage, Loss, and Termination

QWhat happens if the rental car is damaged or lost?

A: You are liable for damage/loss due to negligence. For total loss, reimbursement is based on the higher of stipulated loss or market value.

QCan I terminate the rental agreement early?

A: Yes, with two months’ written notice and subject to approval. Penalties may apply.

QWhat costs am I responsible for upon termination?

A: All outstanding rental, repairs, lost revenue compensation, and other dues.

QCan I transfer the rental agreement to another person?

A: Only with the Owner’s written consent. An admin fee may apply.

Vehicle Condition and Usage

QWhat should I check when I receive the vehicle?

A: Inspect at pickup. Report and note defects in the Vehicle Check Out/Check In Form. Unreported defects are considered your responsibility.

QCan I modify the vehicle, add accessories, or change tires?

A: Not without the Owner’s prior written consent. Approved modifications become Owner's property.

QWhat type of fuel should I use?

A: Use Unleaded 95 Petrol (or higher if required by law). You’re responsible for damage from incorrect fuel.

Financial Responsibilities

QAre there charges for returning the vehicle with less fuel?

A: Yes, the cost of missing fuel is deducted from your deposit.

QWhat costs am I responsible for regarding tires?

A: Up to six tires per year are provided (fair wear and tear basis). Additional costs or delays caused by you are your responsibility.

QAre there penalties for delayed vehicle servicing?

A: A $100 penalty applies if servicing is delayed by more than 1,000 km past the scheduled mileage (or 15,000 km for the first servicing)

Agreement Terms and Changes

QCan the rental rate change during my rental period?

A: Yes, due to legislative or tax changes. You will be notified in writing.

QWhat happens if I don’t return the vehicle on time?

A: The rental agreement will auto-renew.

QWhen can the Owner terminate the agreement?

A: In cases of breach, inability to fulfill obligations, or upon your death.

QAre there penalties for early termination?

A: Yes. An early termination penalty applies, equal to one week’s rental fee per remaining month in the agreement.
